RANCHO CORDOVA. Grab a raft, escape the scorching summer heat, and cool off in the American River. Drifting on the currents promises a refreshing afternoon and the opportunity to see beautiful parts of the 5,000-acre American River Parkway. The trip takes 3 to 4 hours and goes from Sunrise Boulevard to Goethe Park. A shuttle then transports you back to the starting point. Rafts for 4 to 12 people are available, as are one-person kayaks.
