This gallery is located next to the popular Fox & Goose pub in what is cleverly known as "The Building." In addition to showing works by established and emerging artists, the gallery hosts workshops and demonstrations. Moreover, the contemporary gallery is also a working bronze foundry.

Prices run the gamut, and the co-op is staffed by a rotating list of knowledgeable artists and craftspeople. The varied selection downstairs is complemented by the upstairs room, which hones in on the work of one featured artist. The gallery is also open 6pm-9pm for the Second Saturday Art Walk.

FOLSOM. This small, intimate gallery includes works by more than 300 local and national artists. Second-Saturday shows are gaining a following, and a broad variety of affordable art is on display. The gallery specializes in three-dimensional art, including sculpture, pottery, metal and wood furniture, and jewelry. Lamps, glasswork, and vases make elegant gifts.

This gallery houses many ethnic treasures, including extraordinary pottery from Nicaragua. Mayan works in vivid colors look expensive, but prices are surprisingly reasonable. The gallery's mission is to "advance, celebrate, and preserve the art" of Chicano, Latino, and Native American cultures, and it succeeds. Temporary exhibits zero in on certain groups, and workshops are held throughout the year.

In an exclusive shopping area known as "The Pavilion," this gallery showcases more expensive pieces. People come from across the state to buy from owner Andrea Senter, who offers knowledgeable, personable service. Senter views art as a window; in fact, the word "ventana" is Spanish for "window." Contemporary and traditional pieces are available from world-renowned artists, and the staff has the resources to track down whatever you are looking for.
